Telegram Channel and Telegram Group difference

Telegram channels:

  • Only admins can post message, members can only view messages.
  • Telegram Channel can have unlimited members.
  • Channel include view counter so you can know how many people has read the messages.
  • Telegram channel can be private or public. Anyone can join public channel by searching. Private channel can be joined through invite or link, only admin of the channel get this link.

Here is one Telegram's official News channel with more than 3 Millions members, members can only view messages.

Telegram Groups:

  • All members in group can contribute to group (admin can restrict other user from sending messages).
  • Initially Telegram group can have 200 members, it can be upgraded to super group. Supergroup can have up to 200000 members.
  • Group members can see who has joined group.
